Attorney David Ashley Dowdy works as an associate attorney for partner John Van Ness. A 2001 graduate of South Texas College of Law, attorney Dowdy joined Lilly and Van Ness in 2012. He focuses his practice on family law issues, with an emphasis on complex custody and property division disputes.
Mr. Dowdy brings extensive courtroom experience to every case he handles. Before joining the firm, he spent a year as a special prosecutor, handling criminal cases for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice—Institutional Division. He also worked as an assistant district attorney in Brazoria County, where he served as lead felony prosecutor in the 23rd District Court.
Attorney Dowdy is a lifetime member of the Family Law Foundation and has been selected as an associate of the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court, in Houston, Texas.
Kari Anderson works as an associate attorney for partner John Van Ness. Kari received her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in 2003 with a major in corporate finance and, shortly thereafter, moved to Houston to attend SouthTexas College of Law. Kari joined the predecessor firm to Lilly & Van Ness in 2008. In addition to representing parties in complex divorce litigation, Kari represents clients in negotiation of marital property agreements and modifications of underlying orders.
A member of the Texas State Bar since 2006, Kari is also a member of the HoustonBar Association and HBA Family Law Section and an ongoing member and team leader of the Burta Rhoad Raborn Family Law Inn of Court.
Kari lives in Houston with her husband, Justin, and her son and stepsons, along with a household of rescue dogs!
Ashley Murski is an associate attorney for partner John Van Ness. Ashley graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2010, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.
While in law school, Ashley was named an Irene Merker Rosenberg Child Advocacy Senior Scholar. She received her juris doctorate from the University of Houston LawCenter in May 2014. Ashley started with Lilly and Van Ness as a law clerk in 2013 and joined the firm as an associate attorney in November 2014. Ashley’s practice includes a broad spectrum of family law matters, including complex divorce litigation, child custody matters, adoptions, and premarital and postmarital agreements.
Ashley is an active member of the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court, where she currently serves as a team leader. She is also a member of the Houston Bar Association and the HBA Family Law Section and was named a top lawyer by Houstonia Magazine in 2018.
Ashley lives in Houston with her husband, Dillon, and their fur babies, Norma Jean and Kennedy.
